Hawkins Construction is particularly proud of its proprietary Safe Production program. Operating safe construction sites is one of our critical priorities that benefit our employees, subcontractors and clients. Our team includes a fully dedicated safety manger and risk assessor. We conduct quarterly management safety meetings and weekly field safety meetings. Most importantly, we truly believe safety is the first priority, and have made it a core element of our operations. Hawkins Construction’s Experience Modifier Rate (EMR) has averaged .53 for the past three years. EMR is the construction industry’s accepted way of gauging a company’s safety performance track record. EMR is based on actual payroll data and Workmans’ Compensation claims, so it provides an accurate representation of our safety record. The industry considers an EMR of 1.0 to be average; anything above that is below average, and an EMR below 1.0 is considered excellent. This is one instance where a lower score is better. So as you can see, Hawkins Construction’s safety record far exceeds the industry average. This means lower insurance costs with our savings passed on to our clients. But most importantly, our EMR represents our commitment to the health and welfare of our employees and others on or around our job sites.
