Dimmitt Hall

In 2015, Hawkins performed a complete renovation of Dimmitt Hall at Morningside College. The project was completed in just three months so the work could be completed while the building was vacant. Originally built in the 1920s and renovated in the 1960s, Dimmitt Hall is the largest dormitory on the Morningside campus, encompassing 107,000 square feet and 5 floors, and serving 377 students.

The project scope included adding air conditioning and replacing the entire mechanical, fire sprinkler, electrical, and low voltage systems. Exterior improvements included replacement of 472 exterior windows, installation of new roof sections, and masonry restoration. Other interior improvements included new finishes throughout the building (paint, flooring, doors, and hardware) and the addition of a new 5-stop elevator.

"Hawkins Construction Company has been a vital partner in building some of Nebraska's most iconic transportation projects — like the West Dodge elevated expressway and the Interstate 80 six-lane between Omaha and Lincoln. Hawkins’ teams consistently help solve problems on-site, create accurate documents, and minimize unnecessary changes — all at extremely competitive prices.”
